Beginning our 29th year in business, Court Street has seen many changes over the years. From humble, but fun-filled beginnings, Court Street has emerged as a fixture in Hoboken's restaurant scene. We have grown as Hoboken has grown - from serving hot dogs from a push cart to being rated "Excellent" by Zagat's, as one of the "Top 50 Best Dining Values in New Jersey", and receiving 7 Wine Spectator Awards. In addition, AOL City Guide rated our Brunch “City’s Best Top 10” for Northern New Jersey. We stress quality, consistency, and value. We offer a broad selection of food – Fresh Seafood, Steaks, Veal, Pastas, Burgers, Salads and more. Our dining room is casual, yet elegant. Our bar is warm and friendly, a place where you can actually hold a conversation while you enjoy a beer, watch the game, and enjoy anything from a Burger with fries to a Lobster dinner. In 1796, the Hoboken Turtle Club was founded and became the first organized social club in American History.
Founded by Col. John Stevens, early membership included Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr and John Jay. The first official meeting of the Turtle Club took place at what is now Sybil’s Cave.
‘It must first be premised that this is no ordinary club, from the day of its foundation it has existed for but one thing, the principal of epicurean pleasure’ - Col. Stevens.
